English

As a structural engineer with a master’s degree in construction management, Sabrina Linders has honed her skills in a variety of construction projects for more than 30 years. After 10 years of experience on the contractor side, building apartments, offices, and distribution centers and even renovating castles, Sabrina put this experience to use as a project developer/contracting authority for mostly public-private partnerships. Her projects have been growing over the years from smaller stand-alone projects to entire area developments. These combine a mix of functions such as living, working, shopping, recreation, parking, etc. within a sustainable context. Some well-known large-scale realizations in Flanders are Regatta (Left bank Antwerp) and The Loop (Ghent).

Sabrina understands that good mobility is crucial in creating a livable environment. For the Flemish public transport authority De Lijn, she helped develop a hub model that connects several light rail lines with each other and with other types of (public) transport. Sabrina is responsible for the overall coordination of these highly complex projects and processes.

As a connecting figure, Sabrina reconciles the goals of the various stakeholders and establishes lasting partnerships with the key players. The engineer in her is keen on thorough optimizations in processes, tight budget monitoring, and a relentless focus on quality.

Ward Ruelens, Timber Engineering Manager

wruelens@togatherhomes.com

Ward Ruelens graduated as a Master of Civil Engineering having spent five years at KULeuven. During an exchange in Stockholm he discovered the capabilities of timber as a construction material for large-scale projects. Intrigued by its potential for accurate prefabrication, digitalization, construction speed, climate impact and the biophilic and aesthetic properties, Ward deep dived in the timber construction sector.

This interest led him to the Postgraduate Programme in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a combined effort of the universities of Leuven, Ghent and Hasselt. The framework of this one-year Programme allowed to further explore the corporate atmosphere of the timber construction sector through internships with various contractors and engineers. This kickstarted his knowledge about the structural and biophysical properties of the material, costing, project management, budget control and more generally the set-up and organization of a company. The idea of doing multiple internships in one year resulted in an elaborated list of contacts within the industry and the academic world.

After a successful internship Ward has a position within a timber contractor and expert, LDK Woodworks. On a yearly basis he contributes to the sales, engineering, planning and construction of dozens of construction projects.
